How much will Chile pay you to move there?

Country Latin America Updated June 2026

Chile does not pay people to relocate as a general policy. The question stems from Start-Up Chile, a government accelerator (run by CORFO, the national development agency) that gives equity-free grants of US$25,000 to $80,000 to selected early-stage founders who relocate to Santiago for around six months to build their company. It is selective (acceptance rates around 5 to 10 percent), limited to entrepreneurs with a working venture, and the grant covers operating expenses, not personal income. Outside Start-Up Chile, there are no general retiree, remote-worker, or expat relocation grants. Standard immigration routes (Temporary Resident, Pensionado, Investor) all require the applicant to fund the move. For the cost picture, see our Chile cost of living page.
